Importance of time in our lives

When you wake up in the morning, you look up your mobile phone, your time piece, or listen to your alarm, well just about anything which will let you know the time. Surprisingly, I have visited some friends and relatives when they have had small procedures or had a surgery and the doctor told me that the first thing the patient asks as he recovers is what is the time? Why are we hooked on to time? This is so because it is a magical word and completely controls our lives from morning to evening. It is very important in our lives and also special as we cannot function without it.

Time has its own story to tell. It waits for no one. You invest in time wisely and grab an opportunity. An opportunity missed is an opportunity lost. Being a professor, I often told my students in my MBA class to do their assignments on time and take some add on courses and participate in co-curricular activities. The students who actually took the advice were able to achieve their targets. Students who did not submit their assignments on time never got the time to complete it and lost out on their grades, assessments, good internships and jobs. It was then that they regretted their carelessness and wished that they had been more serious when they had been advised. Time empowers you with great benefits if you are able

Time is also said to be a great healer. It has the power to make people forget the big tragedies in their lives. Incidents like sickness, heartbreaks, loss of job, appears to look big on a particular day but after some time it fades from the memory and it feels less sorrowful. For example, When two friends go through a break up, the peer group gives a soothing support and says that probably you were not made for each other and time is a great healer. As time passes on you will forget about it and get over the past.

Time becomes timeless, when a certain person or thing continuously over the years, is able to achieve a special place. If a person has attained a reputation of eminence for a long time in a particular field we say that the person is timeless. Amitabh Bachchan, an actor is known for his oratory and class in acting and has been named a timeless icon. Sharmila Tagore is know for her timeless grace and charm. Both of them are above 75 years of age.

Time also provides, the value of money. Every human being requires money to enjoy a comfortable life. Money is required for all kinds of transactions. the value of money can be assessed for a future period of time as well as for the present time. This can be calculated with financial tables. Value of money can be calculated to strategize corporate profits and prepare sinking funds and make income statements to take advantage of a particular time. To evaluate the expenses on purchase of house or car the monthly instalments can be calculated. Banks and insurance companies calculate future and present value of money based on a planned time.

Time is important for a human being for all kinds of activities in life. It should be used usefully and wisely. If used in a proper manner there will be immense benefits. Time is everyone’s master. Enjoy it. Once you understand the magic of time you will be empowered to get many benefits in life through strategies and many doors of opportunities will open up for you to be timeless.
